Lamorbey Park Archers was attached to the Adult Education Centre in Burnt Oak Lane, Sidcup and was originally formed as one of the many social activities of the Centre in 1958. Since our Jubilee in 2008, we shoot at an adjacent field occupied by the Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School for, primarily, rugby matches and we are indebted to them for their indulgence and support for our endeavours.
The Longbow is one of the oldest weapons in recorded history. It began as a weapon used in the hunt for food, and later, in the reign of King Edward I, became the first artillery weapon of war. (The word `artillery’ derives from the French `arc et tirer’) It developed in
We are a Family Friendly Club with a competitive streak for Target Archery. Currently our senior membership totals over 50 with a general mix of abilities. The Club's new Junior section has over 20 members and is proving very popular with young people experiencing archery for the first time. The Club’s objectives include the development of archery skills and promoting the sport in our locality. We also have fun
Founded in 1958 Lamorbey Park Archers meet most weekends throughout the year weather permitting. Saturday afternoons are primarily for practice and for beginners’ tuition. Sunday mornings are for Club Members only when scoring rounds or matches, both home and away, are contested within the Kent County Archery Association rules. We shoot longbow, compound bow and recurve. Anita Baily is our Coach and Child Protection Officer.
Recently Lamorbey Park Archers become a member of Ontarget, Archery GB’s new Club Development Programme. Clubs joining Ontarget are making a commitment to be open and friendly and to advance the art and skills of archery. In return Archery GB will recognize and reward clubs and give support guidance and advice to develop and improve.
