Winter Frostbite 6th Feb 2011
The first tournament of the year saw a strong turnout of 22 archers of all ages shooting at a distance of 30 metres.
The above average temperatures were much appreciated but a relentless wind meant that everything had to be tied down!
The shorter distance favoured the conditions and the shoot went off successfully, the only casualty being the planned Moving Target Challenge which succumbed to the wind.
Hot soup, fresh baked bread and delicious cakes rounded off a most enjoyable day.
Thanks to all those who helped set out the field and made the day run smoothly.

Sunday May 1st saw the Crecy Clout Shoot held at Eltham College Sports fields.
A total of 40 Archers from local clubs and beyond participated in near perfect weather conditions.
The sight of the compound, 180yds away guarded by a noble French Knight, shield in hand and banner unfurled proved irresistible as arrows rained down from 3 lines of Archers.
Such was the enthusiasm that 2 extra ends were added by unanimous consent, ensuring a total victory, the Knight sustaining at least 6 direct hits.
It was a fine display of fellowship and archery skills that brought the “battle” to a satisfactory conclusion.
Having dealt with the opposition, we retired to the Pavilion where a splendid lunch and delicious cakes awaited.
After the obligatory raffle was concluded, Ron Hurst (Secretary) and Graham Doswell (Chairman) presented medals and prizes to the winning entrants rounding off a truly remarkable day.
I would like to thank all the members who worked tirelessly both in preparation and on the day, especially the “old” hands whose knowledge and help was invaluable.
It was an exceptional example of teamwork and made me feel proud to be a member of the LPA.

Novelty Shoot 2010
Ray Tribe designed a fantastic set of targets for the Novelty shoot and everyone had a great time. Hi “Heath Robinson” balloon target went down really well and raised a good amount of funds for the club.
Fraternity of Saint George Easter Shoot (Leeds Castle) 10th Apr 2011

This event was represented by six Lamorbey Park Archers. For four of us it was a new experience at this type of contest. Initially we were overwhelmed by its popularity. Archers came from all corners of the country including contingents from France and Belgium. It was a very friendly atmosphere; we were made to feel very welcome at the outset.
The shoot began after a scenic trek across a river to the perimeter of the Castle. Throughout the day we were shown the target marks which were at various locations and distances within the grounds, there were no constraints when it came to the terrain.

It adds another dimension; standing line abreast with so many Longbow archers was exhilarating enough. To complement this there was the backdrop of the castle and the great weather. When we thought things could not get any better we were given the opportunity to line up and shoot from the battlements of the Castle at a target across the Lake. To top it all our junior Jack Longhurst on his first ever near the marks shoot, won the Gents competition with the highest score beating all the adults by quite a margin. To add to this, Ann Wright Fowler at her very first go at this event, came third out of all the Ladies. What an achievement by both the Lamorbey Park Archers. We certainly put our club on the map. Well done to our team who all scored well. I will be sending an e-mail to the Fraternity thanking the organisers for a unique day. Special thanks go to Paul Noakes for introducing us and guiding us through the day.

If any club member is interested in participating in any of these forthcoming events please contact either Andy Longhurst or Paul Noakes.
