We wish the team well for 2009. All events and results will be published with a short report on website. This is a new venture for the Lamorbey Park Archers and the possible outcome may well increase awareness of the Club's profile within the neighbouring Counties.
Canterbury Archers' William Somner Tournament
It was a very nice day with the sun breaking through half way through the shoot and a light breeze around the targets. There was a large entry covering every discipline. Mike Kells and Eric Boast were both shooting a York. After the 6 dozen at 100 yards Mike was in second place in the compound but didn’t go up a gear when moving to the 80 and was pushed further down the list, however, he still managed a new PB and club record for a York with a bowman score of 1156. Eric didn’t do as well as he hoped but enjoyed the day none the less.
Telford Archers Double FITA Star - Sep 26/27
Mark Constable went to the headquarters of Archery GB at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall, to attend a Double FITA Star superbly hosted by Telford Archers.
This was the final qualifying event in the inaugural National Archery Series so almost all of Team GBR were in attendance, unsurprisingly cleaning up the podium places.
A basic setup error meant Mark was not able to improve his Gents FITA PB on Saturday scoring a modest 974. He had a better day on Sunday, scoring a new PB of 1072 and gaining the Black English Cross for beating 1050. His final total of 2046 was enough for 50th in Gents Recurve, out of 66 finishers from 83 starters. Far from a disgrace.
At the event, one World Record and several European and UK records were broken.
A hugely inspiring weekend.

Greenwood Osterley Floodlit Western October 17
Mark and Eric attended a new and very well run tournament under the floodlights at Greenwood Osterley Archers shooting ground at Grasshoppers RFC in Isleworth.
Although it was a cold evening, the shoot was very friendly and an interval barbecue kept things nice and relaxed. Shooting at night brings it's own set of challenges in terms of keeping muscles warm and constantly dropping sight marks in line with the temperature!
Out of 29 entrants, Eric came 23rd and Mark managed 6th.
They did not come away totally empty handed though, winning a bottle of Hungarian Muscat and a set of Sambuca glasses in the raffle.
Kent Indoor Championships at Ashford Archers November 11
Portsmouth Round
Remembrance Sunday saw the Kent Indoor Championships hosted as always by Ashford Archers at the Homewood School, Tenterden.
The organisers did a great job of keeping the 3 packed sessions over the day moving along nicely. Mark Constable was there, hoping to take his recent practice form into competition. Alas, Mark suffered some interference on the shooting line, and lost some points that would have moved him further up the field. Nevertheless he managed 3rd in
the first session and 12th overall, coming 9th in Kent.
An impeccable 2 minutes silence was observed in the middle of the second dozen - a reminder of sacrifices past and present.
